Altiplano and South Campuses’ Scholarship

Altiplano and South Campuses’ Scholarship

$2,000 provides an annual scholarship to a student
studying at the Altiplano or South campuses
Altiplano, in the Western Highlands, and South Campus, on the Pacific Coast, are UVG’s two rural campuses where poverty and lack of opportunity have long predominated. Students there are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs as well as teacher training programs, continuing education and workshops university-wide. UVG is committed to working to promote rural development through both formal and informal educational programming. These campuses also host bilingual preparatory education and have elementary and high school programs. Students are Maya (Altiplano) and mostly Ladino, Guatemalans of mixed Maya-Spanish heritage, (South Campus). A very modest investment yields tremendous transformation.
