About the Position

The Executive Director supports the work of the USFUVG board, including organizing semi-annual board meetings and one or two fundraising events each year; executing the annual year-end fundraising campaign; creating external-facing communications, including maintaining the website and updating marketing materials; and working with the board President and members on committee activities, including communications, fundraising, governance, and alumni relations.  The Executive Director also coordinates with UVG administration and UVG’s separate Guatemala-based foundation.    

Essential Duties

Specific duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Implement USFUVG’s advancement strategy, including donor prospecting, cultivation and stewardship, proposal research and writing, grant reporting and record-keeping, year-end fundraising appeal and special giving initiatives
  • In coordination with UVG, draft, design and produce all Foundation communications (newsletters, donor reports, campaign solicitations, tax acknowledgment correspondence, in-kind and letters of gratitude, etc.) 
  • Organize, plan and execute semiannual board meetings (currently remote but usually spring/Guatemala & fall/Washington DC) 
  • Organize, plan and execute one or two major fundraising/friendraising events each year
  • Reconcile donor contributions with organization’s Controller on a quarterly basis.
  • In coordination with webmaster (external consultant), maintain and update USFUVG website. Possibly maintain and expand USFUVG’s social media presence. 

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the advancement/development field, with a minimum of 3 years professional fundraising experience; knowledge and understanding of non-profit fundraising, donor development and grant writing, and customer relationship management databases   
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work with a diverse group of people and personalities and to cultivate productive relationships with board members, staff, donors, UVG colleagues and partner organizations  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Gmail, Google Docs), and website management. Familiarity with fundraising CRMs (especially Salsa Engage and CRM) desirable.
  • Spanish language skills strongly desired 
  • Willingness to travel domestically (two to four trips per year) and to Guatemala (once per year)

Salary & Benefits

The Executive Director’s salary is $53,000 to $58,000 per year. This is a part-time (aprox. 20 hour per week), flexible, fully remote position and can be done from most locations.
